Subordinate's Smile

Hello Everyone,

I once read the book, The White Tiger by Aravind Adiga. I loved the book. Everyone else did too that's why it won the Man Brooker Prize 2008.

Of late, I am seeing a smile on people around me at my office. I loved that smile, it was a smile to hide your internal intentions and make everything look pleasant. The smile of sub-ordinate who hates his job and yet doesn't allow this fact to surf up with the fear of loosing his lively hood. Well the book had some cool smiles like that. I wanted to share about them here:

"All right!"
I moved closer to the woman on the bed. She neither resisted nor encouraged. I touched a  curl of her hair and pulled it gently to get her to turn her face toward me. She looked tired,  and worn out, and there were bruises around her eyes, as if someone had scratched her.

She gave me a big smile—I knew it well: it was the smile a servant gives a master.

"What's your name?" she asked in Hindi.

"What do you want?"
I didn't like the way he asked that one bit; I put a  big smile on my face.
"Any need of a driver, sir? I've got four years' experience. My master recently died, so I—"

I removed the maharaja tunic, and then I went to sleep. I was tired as hell—but on my lips  there was the big, contented smile that  comes to one who has done his duty by his master even in the most difficult of moments.

So ever had to put up that smile on your face?? If yes, let me know about it. Probably everyone including you can have a smile about it now.

Don't forget to grab a copy of the book. Just have a look.

with warm regards
